  1. Greetings. I am in full support of anyone reviewing disposables, as most people use those over cloth these days. I say go for it, if you have the money and are willing to take the risk of leaking due to bad products. This can be mitigated, however, by wearing plastic pants over the disposable just as one would cloth. If that's what you want to do, I say why not? If you don't feel like it though, I wouldn't feel too bad about it. There are several sites offering great reviews of many disposable types and brands, Daily Diapers being my favorite, but Deeker has some and there's a few others I can't remember right now. By the way, more on Attends, the thing you have to look out for is clumping, as both I and others have found that the fluff and polymer mixture, once weighed down by urine, tends to clump in the crotch and rear rather than staying where it is, creating a very saggy diaper and preventing the padding from being positioned where it is needed. This isn't too much of a problem for those who don't move around much when they sleep, but if like me you do, that might be a problem. If one wets slowly over time, they do a great job, but flooding or large voids are not as easily dealt with and can cause leaks if the brief can't whick it away fast enough. I will say that they smell better (in my personal opinion) than some other disposables, and have quite a distinctive odor to those who are familiar with it. Though the plastic ones make lots of crinkly noises, the cloth backed are almost completely silent and rustle free. Another good thing about Attends is that they have enough polymer to be useful for anything other than heavy floods, and have enough fluff to whick the wetness throughout the entire diaper. The fibers in the pulp allow it to travel throughout the brief without staying in one place, which is good and bad. It's good because one area doesn't get soaked and stay soaked while the rest stays dry, but it's bad because the rivulets of liquid can escape the leakage barriers at times, especially if seated. I've found lying down to be fairly safe though. Over all, I would say the Attends are well worth a try. Finally, if interested, you could review the cloth you use, as there are far fewer comfort and performance reviews of adult cloth. Sorry if this post was too much gross information or gritty details, but I am fascinated by the intricacies of disposable diapers and know a lot about how they work. I agree that Adrian's blog post made me feel very happy, both for her and for the fact that there are good parents in this world. All we ever hear about are the sorry bastards who wreck and abandon their kids, but there are good people in this world if we look hard enough. It's all a matter of perspective. By the way, is Easter your favorite holiday due to all the bunnies? Just curious.

Hi again. You do seem to know your stuff... I am still a newbee.. (newborn?) to this whole diaper thing. I have only been back in diapers for 1 year. The attends here, are all cloth backed. there are no plastic backed diapers in this country. I will get around to trying them from time to time... but for now I could talk about my cloth diapers.
I am a side sleeper, and I have heard that cloth is better for side sleepers.
and I got cloth because I can use real baby diapers from the baby store, because they cloth is cut so big. That is just for my AB ego side. i guess i will always be a little kid at heart

  3. Greetings. I have also heard cloth is better for side sleepers. It wicks better than disposables, and has more padding than they do as well. Whereas with a disposable you just have a long rectangular core of fluff and polymer, occasionally a bit on the wings, cloth often has a wider crotch and more absorbency on the wings and sides, provided ones plastic pants hold. I'm surprised baby cloth diapers actually are useful as more than stuffers, but the ones in the States are fairly small. A lot of people fantasize about wearing adult sized baby diapers, so maybe they should move to Japan. There was an adult diaper fashion show in Tokyo in September 2008, but you hadn't been born yet. I also felt renewed upon my rediscovery of the joys I once found in the simple pleasure of being diapered, wet or not. Best of luck either way, never hurts to try new things. I'm going Easter candy shopping on Monday, and am totally psyched about it. I'll probably buy something for my own gullet, being the human garbage gut that I am. It's a showdown between crème eggs, (butter crème, peanut butter crème or coconut crème is what we have around here) jellybeans and marshmallow peeps. I'd also REALLY like a marshmallow filled chocolate bunny, or even a solid or hollow chocolate bunny to nibble on for days, but they have SO MANY calories! GOD I miss being a kid! We used to get several Easter baskets, and I'd usually trade my sister chocolate candy for other stuff, being a completely incurable chocoholic. Is Easter your favorite holiday because of the bunny stuff? Have a pleasant weekend.

  4. Easter is coming! My bunnies are very excited! Oh, I will just write a post about it!
I didn't know anything about a fashion show in Tokyo.. I will have to look for it.

  5. Greetings. There's info about the fashion show on Wikipedia's page on adult diapers. Just type adult diaper into the Wikipedia search box and it will be there near the bottom. The links to relevant articles are in the References section I believe. I LOVE Easter, got some candy for my cousins yesterday. They are the baddest boys I know, so just to be funny I got them chocolate crosses instead of bunnies. (Our family is devoutly Catholic, but though they've gone through First Communion and Confirmation they want nothing to do with the whole affair.) My grandmother might be apawled, but my mother and aunt will surely get a kick out of that. Of course my cousins will devour them no matter what their shape. GOD I want candy NOW! I'll keep an eye out for your future posts. Adrian's been quiet lately, hope things are OK. Have a pleasant day.
